Hi all,
Onai....Week 24!, i think..Height 60 and a bit cm's, having a little trouble as he wants to eat the tape measure now. Weight..18.6 kg
Perhaps we should start a thread on Tamaskan likes and dislikes... Onai has a major hang-up at the mo... he will not walk through puddles especaily muddy dirty ones... ever heard that about a puppy?.
His favorite pastime is hunting for.... and then licking....and then eating spider's! eeeewww.
Bye for now. _________________ Annette and Gary |

My cat will hunt and pounce on insect before eating them. He found one earlier and after we killed it he stared at it and then ate it. Animals are weird. And I've never heard of a dog (puppy or otherwise) who didn't enjoy getting dirty and then running through the house causing havoc. Oh the joys of being a pet owner... Freyja went to the vet today for her (what would be final) vaccinations. The vet, however, recommended another (4th) round of Parvo vaccine just to be safe (as our other dog just recovered from Parvo) Her weight is accurate--from their scale, but the height...maybe not so much. Freyja would rather eat the yardstick.
0:3:1 (13 weeks)
She is 11.3 kg (25 pounds)
and 48.3 cm (19 inches) tall at the shoulder
she does appear leggy, and her tail is too long and her ears are too big...we just love her -- she's so cute
maybe we should type all of this into excel...make a cute little chart (okay, now my nerdy scientist is shining through ) _________________ __________________

Hi all,
Onai had a bumper week.... weight 20.1kg..height at sholuder 62 cms.
Seems to have got longer this week, most noticable when walking next to Zeta they are pretty much the same size with the exception of her 20+kg bulk of course!.
Have had to keep him exercised on soft ground as he has scuffed one of his nails again. He seems to drag his front paws a little when he gets tired.
Looking forward to meeting up with the other tam owners next weekend. _________________ Annette and Gary |

I meant to put these weights up a few days ago when he was 6 months.
Diesel @ 6 months exactly
Weight : 24.2 KG!!! (I found out the scales I was using before were broken)
Height : 64 cm
And getting really long. I have to measure tip of tail to tip of nose. |

Okay, I took everyone's data they submitted here and ... viola! What a nice chart...as you can see, there is definite continuity between them. If there were more individuals entering data, I would probably split the males and females...but it is what it is It does need a little tweeking, but the patterns are clearly there... I took the age out to two years for future input.

Wave @ 16 weeks
Weight: 40lbs 18.18kg
Height: 22.25" 56.5cm
He's had a difficult time this past week with vomiting/diarrhea. The vet thinks he came in contact with a tree frog or possibly a lizard . So my poor boy has been a lil' dehydrated. I was surprised at his weight...he just does not look like he weighs that much to me. |

I am concerned about the same thing......growing too fast. I have had lengthy conversations with my Vet over his size! We already changed his feeding to 2 times a day instead of 3. We also are going to start to do a 50/50 combination of adult & puppy food. I have to wait until he gets over his bout of vomiting/diarrhea before we make any further changes, though.
He is on IAMS large breed puppy food right now.
His growth has actually started to slow down a bit....believe it or not!
I am keeping the though of they typically all end up the same size.......or I am going to have a very large Tamaskan! |

What diet is Jasper on?
Do you think there is another puppy food that would be better than Iams?
My Vet thought his size/weight is consistent considering he was over 16lbs at 8wks. He recommended the food change if I was so worried. I guess I am overly paranoid about hip dysplasia & his growth?
I would hate to think I was doing anything that would harm or hinder him! |

That's a strange coincidence-- Freyja got into a deer carcass while off leash last week. Only a few seconds were enough to get her sick. So she had vomiting and diarrhea as well. Poor thing had a temperature, too. But with a few down days she's now back to her normal self.
Our vet said we could give her Pepto. So I did and it really helped her poo get better. Of course she was refusing to eat for a day and a half--but she couldn't resist canned food--so I hid the Pepto in that.
However, if there is ever blood in the stool, you should NEVER give Pepto.
That's certainly a sign to go straight to the vet.
Hope Wave gets better soon! _________________ __________________

Wyatt
~4 months
15.06 kilos (33.2 lbs)
~50.8 cm (20 inches)
The height was hard to get...if only he would stay still.
Looks like he is real close to Freyja in height, but he's still a bit skinny

Height 66 cms
Weight 26.8 KG.
I have noticed him starting to fill out a bit in the body now. He commands more presence in the room. |

Jasper was born on November 18th so he's a day older.
It depends how you count the age: by month Jasper was 7 months old yesterday but it'll be 31 weeks since date of birth next Tuesday (the 23rd). If you divide 31 by 4 (4 weeks per month) you get 7.75 but the average works out to just over 7 months old.
Anyway, technicalities...
At this point I'm going to just count the months rather than weeks; people on the street have begun to give me funny looks lately when I tell them Jasper's precise age (ie, "7 months and however many weeks old") it's easier just to say 7 months old hahaha. I guess that's typical "parent" behavior. lolz
To cut a long story short, Jasper and Diesel are about the same size and the same age. _________________

Ha ha! My in-laws and husband were ganging up on me about this the other day, and they wanted to do it by month. Freyja was born on the 4th of Feb. So on the 4th of June, to them, she'd be 4 months old. I said 'no...she's 4 months old on the 27th of May...' And we all laughed because by my calender there'd be 13 months in a year...well, aren't there?! The Aztecs had it right...none of this leap year business... _________________ __________________
