Thanks Claire. I will invest.
Yummy Tamaskan hair and baked potato for tea. Hmmm.....
OK, its proving very tricky to get Banjo to eat. He is obviously pining for his old pack.
He has eaten the odd handful of kibble but will not eat a meal from the bowl.
So today I have been giving him tripe sticks - he very much likes them. Then around 4 O clock - his old feeding time - he started to act differently to how he has been. Kind of nagging.
Lynn had said that he likes sardines so off to Sainsbury's I went, stopping by the petshop to pick up some naturediet wet food. (Have ordered Tera Canis as a supplement wet food, it looks amazing)
I mixed the Sardines up with a little water and mashed away. By this time both dogs are going nuts. Wohoo!
Mix the Orijen kibble with a couple of table spoons of what is essentially burly (sea fishing food) and feed to Banjo.
Well he goes mad at it. For about 10 minutes. I look round to see a bowl of bone dry kibble. Not a bit of it touched. Just the sardine juice all liked off.
So give him some wet and he starts to chow down. Try to give him some more and he has had enough. Not even wanting a Tripe stick. So now chilling in the crate.
He is eating no where near the amounts Lynn has had him on but I am sure he will very soon. I think he would eat more if I could leave it down, but this food Diesel finds very tasty indeed. Over his own and identical food, so it has to be picked up after a short while.
We will get there.
Here are some more shots of them getting along great!

Hi Nick
I can second the version of the furminator we have one for Onai and Zeta who is long haired and it works a treat. The first couple of uses you could make a tamaskan jumper like you suggested but it gets less and less each time . Welll worth the money
Congrats on your adoption of Banjo! _________________ Annette and Gary |

Well they look much more settled! Definitely beginning to look like a proper family!
They both look very cosy on the sofa, is there any room for you _________________ You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'Wow, you're right! I never would've thought of that!' |

Cheers guys.
Funny you mention the sofa. That actually my flatmates domain and I have a nice lazy boy. But due to the Tamaskan's need for comfort, and rightfully so, Mark has been pushed to the floor. So he is re-arranging the living room today so I sit on the sofa and he has the chair. Both dogs do not even attempt to think about getting on my chair.
They are both really settled now. Just gotta get Banjo eating properly.
K - Yes hopefully there will be no more car crashes. LOL. But we do get loads of people stopping to look, turn round and it takes us HOURS to get anywhere. We are getting loads of ' WOW, your Huskies look strange?'. Ha ha. Thats because they are Tamaskan's.
So, who wants to know a good way of how to clear a room of unwanted and indeed wanted human guests. Double Tamaskan Farts. That does the trick...... LOL _________________ Submitting to the Tamaskan charm. Nick is dominated by Diesel and Banjo! Wo Woo Wooooo |

OK, so Banjo didn't like the fresh green tripe I put down for him and stunk my house out with. But he did eat half a pouch of Natures Menu Beef and tripe wet dog food. It really must smell goooooodd!!!
Still, not brilliant, but its 150grams more than nothing. Ill give him another big tripe stick later on.
Heres a few more shots.

Right, Banjo is officially being a fussy bugger. I am not so worried now.
He last night wolfed down a pouch of NatureMenu Chicken. Tried him on some fish menu this morning and not interested. Hungry tho.
He loves a good tripe stick and a bulls pizzle. Will not touch kibble.
Took him to the vets to be weighed today also, just so I know if he is loosing or gaining in the future. And to my shock he is 3 kg lighter than Diesel. I think Diesel really is going to be massive. Already a couple inches taller and longer then Banjo, but Banjo feels bigger and heavy, but isn't. Banjo is 10 x stronger then Diesel. But not for long I feel.

Actually he wasnt exactly crated with 2 girls on heat, he in fact travelled down south with one girl in heat and a few that wernt as I was on my way to a show. He was separated from them in my camper but was still very excitable all the same. Ive been on the road for 6 days and just got back late last night shattered. Hope he is still doing well Nick. |

Yeah all is great Lynn.
I think we will be fine to go off lead in a week. Max. He comes to every recal when in house or in a large garden.
He is still being a fussy eater. But I have found his weakness. NaturesMenu chicken. Its recommended as the wet food to feed your barf fed dog in emergencies. Its bloody pricey tho at 80p for a 300gram pouch. Banjo needing around 4-6 a day really. Will not touch kibble.
So I will be moving both onto a RAW diet soon enough. I just need to find a recipe (menu) that is suitable and I am able to get all the bits locally.
Any raw recipes people want to share, please post away.
Yes Claire, Banjo seams to have settled really well. And I just love the Tamaskan hugs and kisses I get in the morning when opening the crates up. They have a little tussle then I get pretty much beaten down to the ground and lots of head rubbing. Real pack behavior. Its great. Diesel definitely likes his new addition to his life. _________________ Submitting to the Tamaskan charm. Nick is dominated by Diesel and Banjo! Wo Woo Wooooo |

We have had quite a cool day today with the cloudy weather so I took Diesel and Banjo round to the local petshops as all the girls wanted to meet my new addition. He loved it. And the walk which would normally take an hour and bit turned out to be a half day excursion.
People stopping us constantly to pet the 'Wolves'. Oh its half term, lol. We even had an impromptu photo shoot with a family that were holidaying here from the states. I linked them to the Tamaskan sites and I think we may have some more owners when they return!!!
But people are so impressed at how well behaved they are. There are dogs yapping and going nuts all around. Sometimes Diesel likes to join in and show his age. But Banjo just sits and ignores and takes in all the attention and strokes.
Both are starting at the Sussex Canine Centre in September for obedience and advanced obedience. Also fun agility. The centre is really good and also run NVQ's in pretty much all things dog. So I am really considering taking a course.

And prices for the training and courses are very reasonable. We will have fun I think. _________________ Submitting to the Tamaskan charm. Nick is dominated by Diesel and Banjo! Wo Woo Wooooo |

Brilliant Nick! So pleased all going well. The thing I love most about these dogs is their temperament. Elkie loves everybody and is so gentle with my children. My son rolls on the floor playing with her and he puts his arm in her mouth and she just licks it or tries to groom him. I love the way thier ears flatten down when they are pleased to see you too and their tails wave 19 to the dozen. We are definetely fans! My husband has never been as mad on dogs as me but he dotes on Elkie - even when she's chewed the leg practically off his bedside table and chewed our bedroom window sill to pieces! She can still do no wrong in his eyes.
All I can say is well done Lynn and Jennie - and thank you!!!! |

Give up!!!! I have no idea what this sentence means. I never back down or give up. Sorry dogs. LOL. I am really looking forward to starting these courses. Diesel will be a massive distraction to everyone as he tries to say hello to all that attend.
Anyway, here are a few more wrestling shots. Still no signs of aggression, which is so good. Even when Banjo is knackered and wants to sleep. With Diesel jumping all over him, Banjo may grumble but certainly wont snap at him.
Diesel really showing his age atm. If we are out of the house I can garuntee he will do something naughty, or go against what I am telling him. He has had to be put to the ground quite a lot over the last few days. Luckily Banjo seams to like to tell him off also, which saves me from doing it.

I have the furminator now. Well a cheap alternative. Massive 10 inch head. Clears carrier bags of fluff away. Henry hoover is saved. And I want to shake the persons hand who invented the furmintor thingy. What a great device.
Of course the Sofa for a wrestling match. Far more comfortable than the back garden. LOL.
And Lynn, how on earth did you train Banjo to poo in bushes. What a good dog. Although can make it difficult to pick up when its spread on multi levels, LOL.
But yeah, this seams to be a match made in heaven atm. We play, eat, wrestle, walk, sleep and then start over again. Everyone is really impressed at how well trained Banjo is. All it takes is a click and a point and he goes / does what you want him to do. So intelligent these dogs. _________________ Submitting to the Tamaskan charm. Nick is dominated by Diesel and Banjo! I'm so glad it's all working out for you Nick! I knew I should have asked for Banjo!!
Definitely know what you mean about the 'age' thing, my little sweetheart with the perfect recall now is completely deaf and even at agility doesn't want to listen to a thing I say, just does all the obstacles in the order she wants and runs through the tunnel and goes loopy!
Luckily everyone at the class loves Tala and the trainer is very understanding when she has her mad moments! I think she is still suffering from crate fever too! _________________ You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'Wow, you're right! They look like they are getting on famously. I bet going out with those two is a real crowd puller!! I find it quite amazing how well behaved these dogs are and how much they will let anyone pet them. I work at out local ski slope and Dash attracts lots of attention from customers and happily lets kids crowd round her.
I have recently been converted to the fact that two dogs is better than one. We have a husky pup who spends all day with Dash and she loves it.
Looks like yr two have many happy yrs ahead of them |

Hi Nick,
Not been on the forum for quite a while but I've just been scrolling through your thread with great interest! You got Banjo!
If you can go off posted photos alone Banjo is definitely one of my favourite grey Tams.
I'm starting to worry though - you are talking of the 'pack'. Does this mean there will be even more Tams at your house one day? Also, does this pack tendency happen to everyone? OMG the neighbours will shoot me!!!!
Mind you they have been forewarned - in fact both sides seem really keen meet the new arrival whenever she finally arrives.
Love the photos BTW and Diesel (he of the great name) is as handsome as ever.

Thanks guys.
Claire, I really look forward to starting my two boys at Agility. I see Zoo is having a sale on the equipment. May well get a tunnel and and zig zag. Everyone loves a Tamaskan, even in the throws of them having a funny five minutes. LOL
Yeah Dash, they really are crowd pullers. Ill talk some more on that shortly. But their temperaments are so great! Placid, docile, really really friendly. I was asked today by my Insurers as to whether the dogs are guard dogs. Laughed out loud at that one and said that the person clearly hadn't met a Tamaskan.
Jan - No more Tamaskans for me ATM. Perhaps if I move to a bigger house. Well actually the house would take it, I just need a garden extension. LOL. But 2 is def better than one. Diesel can take some energy out on Banjo rather than expending it all on me.
But you do pose an interesting question. Is there anyone who has only ONE Tamaskan as their only pet? I somehow seriously doubt it.
OK, Yesterday we took the dogs out for what was meant to be a morning walk and a picnic at a (semi) local (40 miles away) park. 88 acres, or hectors, dunno, bloody big. Full of Deer in the middle and loads of families picnicking and having fun. Loads of dogs and a couple of lakes complete with Ducks.
Well, both dogs on lead as Diesel would be gone, far too much distraction, but had them on flexi leads. Must have taken us about a good hour to move about 500 meters. SO SO many pictures had to be taken and kids and old folk flocking from all over to see the dogs.
In the end we all decided to have some lunch in a quite secluded part of the park, and luckily we got left in peace. The dogs were great. Sat and waited for us to eat so they could then get on with the walk. Well we covered the whole park, took quite a while with 3 kids and plenty of petting stops as someone legs it across the park to see the dogs.
But this is testament to how well the dogs are getting on. All the way there and back from the park, Diesel slept on top of Banjo on the back seat of the car. They both have their own spots to sit in, held in with car harness, but they instead have to lay on each other, how cute.
But it appears I may have been abit over confident with Banjo's supposed cast iron stomach and given him too much Orijen kibble too soon, or he is allergic to one of the ingredients as I woke to find him and his crate covered in Diarrhea. Today he is very sleepy but up for a fussing and a good stroke when called. So plenty of liquids and 24 hours of no food, then a week of chicken and rice with Probiotics and rehydration packs, we should be sorted. I really do not think there is anything too nasty going on as Diesel appears to be fine and this happened pretty much after giving Banjo his kibble.
Does anyone know if we can get canned Pumpkin here in UK? Seams a good addition to the old chicken and rice and is good for firming up the stools.
Right, enough poorly talk, here are some great shots from Yesterday, and I apologize as for once I am not behind the camera. Argh..

Right! Consider this an official warning Mr Nick, no more photo's of multiple tamaskans, that is just a selfish act to make other people jealous
Having said that they look as if they are having a great time and look like a proper family (that includes you!)
P.S Will you be taking the two of them to Hop Farm? _________________ You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'Wow, you're right! I never would've thought of that!' |

Sorry for lack of updates, but taking photos etc has been far from my daily activities of late.
Banjo and Diesel have managed to pick up a tummy bug from somewhere, so have spent the last week clearing up nasty mess from both ends and endless boiling chickens and rice. Gotten through nearly a 10 kilo bag of rice and 3 chickens a day. With all the vet bills and lack of sleep, i am somewhat feeling the pressure.
But apart from the tummies, the doggies are fine if perhaps a little lethargic. They are still up for a good walk, but I am limiting these. Best off all they still have their hour long Tamaskan Tussles. I could watch them playing all day long. In the photos, below, it looks quite vicious and nasty but in real life its actually so gentle. And as part of their routine, they like to tussle when released from crates in the morning. I take them outside to the yard for this as it can be a bit boisterous for my living room. We always have an audience - All the neighbors kids of random ages propped up on chairs looking over the fence, waiting patiently for the wrestling match.
Anyway, on with the show.
