Thanks guys!
OK, Just to report - I had an early morning call from the Vets to let me know the results of fecal tests etc. They have Guardia. I thought i recognized that nasty vinegary smell.
Anyway, 10 days on some meds that may not work 100%. Apparently quite a hard bug to shift. I was told I need to be really clean and disinfect everything. Which is fine and nothing new as I have OCD and and there is nothing I enjoy more than cleaning a crate once, then twice, then a third ....... LOL.
I am just thinking back to what caused this, and I have just had one of them light bulb moments. I was walking them about a week into getting Banjo and he was on long lead when he did the old Drop and roll. And came up with his ruff dripping with FOUL smelling Diarrhea. I presumed fox. But now I think back to the smell, it was indeed full of Guardia. _________________ Submitting to the Tamaskan charm. Nick is dominated by Diesel and Banjo! Wo Woo Wooooo |

oww, thats a nasty bug to catch.
It really is hard to get rid of it and its so contagious.
When I first picked up Zuul she had it, she then passed it onto Riker my CED puppy, and my son, Finley, lucily none of the adults caught it.
You have to be so clean and have disinfectant trays to dip your feet in when walking in and out of the house.
Good luck _________________

Cheers Jen.
Yeah I hate having to be so clean, LOL. My hands are falling apart once again. Plenty of e45, betnovate and other lotions.
The dogs are seaming more and more lively as the days on antibiotics go by. Stools starting to firm up now. I can actually pick them up in a bag. Which is nice, hehehe. Actually, I don't think Diesel has been affected as badly as Banjo, but they are both putting weight on, so that has to be good.
Here are some shots of an early morning Tamaskan Tussle. On the sofa I may add. And the final shot is of Diesel new sleeping position, since being kicked off his bed by Banjo.

Thanks guys.
Well 10 days done on the Antibiotics, and i think we need to go stronger or a different route - Panacure?
The dogs seam fine, just weight loss and still on chicken and rice. Haven't had any nasty episodes for over a week.
But worst of all, I think I have now got Giardia. Time for a DR's trip I think. Either that or swine flu. But I am thinking that would be too much of a coincidence. I have a week to get better as my sisters wedding next Saturday. _________________ Submitting to the Tamaskan charm. Nick is dominated by Diesel and Banjo! Wo Woo Wooooo |

Get yourself to a Dr's soon Nick! Whatever it is doesn't sound nice, hope the dogs look after you as well as you look after them!
Take care x _________________ You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'Wow, you're right! I never would've thought of that!' |

Yes, you poor thing Nick
Hope you feel better soon. My husband had it once when he returned home from working overseas and it wasn't nice. Can you cope with walking the dogs etc? Let us know how you get on. |

Hey Debbie,
I really hate to say this, but that sounds so much like Giardia. The smell and colour are normally a tell tale sign.
From all the reading I have done I would be thinking to get him onto Metronidazole as soon as possible. Probably a ten day course. This should clear it up, about 60 % of the time.
It has worked, I think with Diesel but Banjo still appears to be infected. He hasn't really put weight on, although his stools have improved.
I also took them off of chicken and rice, as they weren't improving on it. Moved them to Turkey mince and mash potato - and next movement was a marked improvement.
Diesel now back on dry kibble but Banjo only on a small amount still as no weight gain. We are at the vets later to probably put Banjo onto Panacure. This again has a limited success, but should, hopefully, work.
Several things with Giardia.
One, it may not show on a fecal test
two, its contagious to humans on fecal ingestion.
three, The smell is NASTY - Like soured milk and cheeses. You'll know the smell for the rest of your life and you'll smell it out on walks quite regular, well I do anyway.
Good luck and keep a close eye on your dogs weights, as that can be the first sign that something isn't right. Diarrhea isn't always a symptom.
Other things I noticed with the boys. They will grumble when going to lay down as they have painful bellies.
Lots of nasty smelling gas and also bad breath. Initial onset saw them drinking loads of water this then tappered off to having to coax them into drinking. And getting picky with food, as they know it will hurt their tums.
Now, only Banjo will grumble slightly after eating. He also drinks and eats all put in front of him.
I am sure your Jasper will be feeling better in no time and keep that mop of disinfectant handy. _________________ Submitting to the Tamaskan charm. Nick is dominated by Diesel and Banjo! Wo Woo Wooooo |

I agree with Nick! Definitely sounds like it could be Giardia. Tala had this when she was about 4 months old.
Watery projectile diarrhoea is very obvious symptom as well as going off food and losing weight.
Best get them checked out, sounds like kitten could be culprit as giardia is a parasite that lives in the small intestine. _________________ You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'Wow, you're right! I never would've thought of that!' |

Hey folks,
Well the boys are finally back onto normal feeding, but minus anything with ANY type of grain. They are completely intolerant of grains atm.
But, weight piling back on and the boys are in need of their long walks again. Which is great. Broke them in with an 8 an half mile walk this morning to get me eggs.
We also started Diesel at the Sussex Canine Center. WOW, the training school I have been dreaming of. They are so good. We had 8 dogs of varying sizes and ages all working towards silver award, good citizen scheme.
Well Diesel was best in there by far. They had all the agility stuff by the side of the VERY large hall, and diesel Loved it. Could not get him off the see saw or tunnel. We are starting both dogs in the new year on Flyball and Agility.
They also train gun dogs at the center and they confirmed something that I have been thinking for a while - Diesel has MASSIVE prey drive. I MEAN MASSIVE. One of the biggest drives for prey they have seen in a long while. Which is good, as it means if we can focus that energy we can do good things, but most likely on lead. ATM, Diesel is very attentive and alert to everything, but me when out. At the center all dogs looking at their owners during exorcises except Diesel who is paying attention to everything but me, but still doing as commanded. This is why he walks into things so much, just does not look where he is going.
Anyway, Kayden, who is now 5 came over to say hello to the dogs now they are feeling better and not going to make him ill. Banjo did his usual greet and then slink back off to his bed in case Diesel has designs on it. But Diesel went mad....... Argh - Sweet sticky 5 year old boy for me to lick. Squeaky and fast, Diesel loves him.
Anyway on with show.

Hey guys,
Sorry for lack of updates, ill be posting some agility and training videos in the coming weeks.
Diesel and Banjo are doing great and loving life on the Raw meat diet. My wallet loves it also.
Heres a couple of shots of Me and my boys enjoying some time watching the new Brighton Rock film being filmed. Helen Mirran loved the dogs, tried to get them in the film but they weren't having it. LOL.
Ah, well whilst the dogs are sleeping.....
Here are some random shots from the last month. I think mostly they are sleeping. I just love the way Banjo sleeps with his paws on his muzzle.
