Yes, yes, yes...5 years of shame for me for not remember handsome Jackal. I shall carve his name into my long-term memory!!
Better yet, I'll put it on a plaque and take it with me everywhere. *runs off to find a piece of wood, chisel and wood-shaving/carving knife* _________________ ~Arie

When we were chilling out on the beach, Tala kept herself amused by digging a huge hole, she only stopped when it was too deep for her legs to reach the bottom!!! She then decided to make it wider, then lie in it!
We wondered if she got too hot from all the digging and wanted to cool down in the wet sand, unfortunately the pic doesn't show how deep the hole is!

When we took Wyatt camping, we constantly had to keep filling up the deep holes we would dig to avoid sprained ankles! haha. I love the beach pictures - looks like you guys had fun! |

I was cleaning out a cupboard at the weekend and found an old hot water bottle cover, I used to really love it, it was bought a few years ago as a distraction to getting a puppy!
Anyway someone else has fallen in love with it now and I am not sure I am going to get it back!
She's finally found a dog in the house that she can cuddle up to!

Yes, please do call the stuffed animal services. Many of them worldwide are being abused...by other animals. _________________ ~Arie

I'm thinking of buying a backpack for Tala so she can carry around her own stuff when we are out on walks, poo bags, water etc.
I wondered if anyone else uses a backpack on their dog? Also I am not sure if she is old enough (9 months) yet or if I should wait?
Any Advice _________________ You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'Wow, you're right! I never would've thought of that!' |

Riker my eskimo dog has a backpack, he has used it with nothing in it since he was 7 months old.
I have just now at 10 months started to add a bit of weight, some water (not a full bottle) and a water bowl for our long walks.

I have looked into backpack reviews and stuff for Abby in consideration of getting her one since it seems I can never tire her out even on daily 1 hour walks. (I want her drop on the cold tile floor after a good drink of water and sleepy kind of tired - aka mentally exhausted. lol.)
I went to petsmart to buy a backpack just to see how she'd take to one...she nearly tore up the "monster" on her back. Good thing she left it alone after a few corrections - she didn't mind the towel I've placed on her back prior to getting a backpack - just to get her used to something on her back. I think she had a problem with the under-straps.
Ok, ok....enough rambling. As far as what I have found through google searches, I found this doggie backpack review site to be particularly helpful even though it looks like an abandoned site: Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! |
I wanted to get Abby the Ruffwear Palisades pack as that one seems to be of the best quality. I also visited a store to check the quality of the pack and I'm quite pleased with it. I have yet to bring Abby back to the store to get her sized properly. Apparently, it's best to size according to the dog's measurements rather than the dog's weight and/or storage capacity of the pack....or so the store clerk told me.
Sorry if I rambled on too much! _________________ ~Arie

Yes I have one for Diesel. I use it with nothing in atm, but once he is 10-12 months I will start putting some water etc in. I think that as the Tamaskan is quite a long dog, 10-12 months is really the youngest I would want to add weight. _________________ Submitting to the Tamaskan charm. We have recently joined the Kennel Clubs - Companion Dog Club, a club for any dog that is a companion! They don't need to be registered with the KC and it's a great way to meet more dog friendly people!
As part of the membership they have a mascot called Casey Kennel who has his own facebook account and his own area on the CDC site.
Each week Casey chooses a Dog of the Week to be nominated on the Discover Dogs page on the KC website.

Although I have already applied to enter the Novelty classes at Discover Dogs in November and it does detail her breed on her application form.
But if we get in, thousands of people will get to see her! If we do get in I am planning on getting a bandana made for her to wear that will have the TDSGB logo on it.
Fingers crossed we get in and the fact that I have put her breed on doesn't get us excluded!
I have mentioned on the email to get my free tickets that we have entered the dog show so that may go in our favour! _________________ You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'Wow, you're right! I never would've thought of that!' |
