what a great howl, as soon as I started playing it, Tala ran over jumped on the sofa to see what was going on! I wish I had videoed it! _________________ You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'Wow, you're right! I never would've thought of that!' |

Here are a few shots of Sookie having fun at one of our local off-leash dog parks last weekend:

She weighing just under 38 lbs and definitely seems to be growing at a slower clip than many of her siblings. I'm not sure whether to attribute this to her having been the runt of her litter (maybe she will simply be a smaller Tamaskan) or to us having moved her onto premium kibble almost immediately after receiving her (or perhaps some of both). In any event, we are not concerned about it as we understand that slower growth is generally advantageous in terms of hip health. |

I think bitches are generally smaller and lighter, I know there is a significant difference between Tala and her male litter mates _________________ You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'Wow, you're right! I never would've thought of that!' |

Right - I think she's trailing her sisters as well, though. |

Sookie is adorable!
That doggie park looks awesome. I wish we had something like that in my area.
What kind of dog food is Sookie on? |

Yes, we are blessed with lots of great off-leash parks in the Seattle area. The one closest to our house isn't quite as nice as the one in the photos, but it certainly gets the job done on the weeknights. In fact, we are headed there momentarily.
As for food, we originally put her on Innova large breed puppy kibble, then switched her to California Natural lamb and rice puppy kibble about two months ago (she's had a pretty sensitive stomach and our vet recommended that we try a kibble without any chicken in it). So far so good on the CN. |

Sometimes I think we should have named her "Smiley" as she is one happy pup! Love the dog park photos of her having so much fun and showing off her big grin! She is also the fastest and most flexible dog in the dog park always trying to find someone to chase her. |

I love all the pictures!!! I wish we had an awesome dog park nearby like that! We drove one day to a local dog park but it was basically just a fenced in small square no larger than our yard - what a disappointment! |

Well, it is raining now in Seattle (A LOT) and Sookie always seems to find the muddiest place she can at the dog park. She has the time of her life, that is until she has to come home and get hosed off.

We caught Sookie watching a dog show on TV and while that was cute, her reaction really made our day. She watched from afar, but when she saw a dog she liked, she perked up and then ran over to the TV to see up close if the dog was really there...what a character!

Hiya Sookie's mom & dad
Freyja, Sookie's sister, is now 75 pounds. We been feeding her Taste of the Wild and Grandma Mae's kibble now for quite some time (since June, I think). This is premium kibble, too. We've even done the 10% cut back on kibble, and are also feeding a mixture of raw food as well--but the result is that Freyja is ginormous! (but still lean)
Wonder if any of their other sisters are big or small....wish they were here. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's still only Sookie, Wave, Wyatt, Kana and Freyja on the forum... so we're missing four... Wish they were here too.
Freyja watches TV like this too. Sometimes if a dog runs out of frame on TV Freyja will go looking for the dog in the dining room. Really funny!
Your photos are wonderful--she looks so happy _________________ __________________

WOW Freyja's mom! I can't believe how big a difference there is between these two (size wise)! Believe me, Sookie eats plenty-we have even upped her meal size, but she is very finicky. Sounds like Freyja likes Taste of the Wild, we have tried that brand too, but Sookie's stomach didn't handle it too well...seems to be very sensitive to certain foods. She is currently on Avoderm (oven baked trout and wild rice) and so far so good. Maybe she will have a late growth spurt
I think you are right that there are only five of us on here from the litter-I love being able to keep in touch with all of you! Just wish we all lived closer and could see the pups side by side. |
