|
We picked Ocracoke up on Saturday afternoon from Tarheel. John and Tina were so wonderful and hospitable...apparently coffee comes with a pup. We visited with Tundra and Blaze, too--and WOW what beautiful dogs! Photos cannot do them justice. I hope O.T. grows up to be just like her mom & dad.
We then had a 10 hour drive home to Pennsylvania...wow! O.T. was a scared at first--had a little bought of puking --but then slept for 9 hours---yes, nine hours all the way home. She howled when we put her in her crate, so I slept on the floor next to her. Once I was next to her, she quieted down and slept the rest of the night.
The past couple of nights keep getting better. And she plays with Fenris all day and naps throughout the day, too. He is very gentle with her, despite her needle-sharp teeth. She gets him good sometimes, too!
We're still trying to find the perfect name. She's been home since Sunday, and loves playing with Fenris--our rescue dog. O.T. is very curious about our cats...but that may take some time for them to become buddies (and they will--they love Fenris).
Can't wait to find a boy for O.T. We have some time...

Yes, a cup of coffee with free refills comes with a puppy. We enjoyed your visit with us and we hope your puppy brings you joy and happiness only a Tamaskan can give.
Keep the photos coming and enter Ocracoke Treasure in the on-line dog showing. _________________ John

So awesome to see another one of Wave's littermates on the forum Please take note the 1st picture I posted of my Wave was with your pup on top of him! LOL Your girl was giving Wave a goodbye kiss
I can not give John & Tina enough compliments on every aspect of getting a pup from them to how awesome Tundra & Blaze are in person.
I have had my Wave 2 weeks now & I am amazed how insanely smart this pup is..........I am sure you are going to have the same experience with your baby too.

That's the "wolf" in her, right? haha. Both of them are just precious. Congrats on the new puppy. (yea, I know; that congrats was a bit late.) _________________ ~Arie

What love, she is stunning! I especially like the vicious face she is making while playing with her friend! Sookie (our pup) makes the same face while playing with her dog friends and I have tried to capture it with the camera! Seeing your photo made me smile! It looked just like her! |

We've decided on a name
"Freyja"
The other Norse names were just too difficult to pronounce.
Freyja is the Norse goddess of love & fertility. When she was 1 month old, the white patch on her chest was a heart. _________________ __________________

Frey-ya
We're having 35 mile-per-hour winds today. She almost blew away! Poor thing. _________________ __________________

Beautiful dog. There's a Norwegian Elkhound puppy that frequents the dog park that I do, and her name is pronounced Frey-ya. No idea how it's spelled though. |

You had a short list of names? Our list was a mile long
Just kidding...
We had a bunch of Norse names picked out--but nothing stuck due to difficult pronunciation. I guess we felt obligated to have a Norse name because our other dog is named Fenris. Also on the top of our list was Luna--because she howls (like all Tams--I'm sure) and she has pretty silver tipped hairs
Which, by the way, Fenris and Freyja will be reunited tomorrow morning after over 2 weeks of being apart. We can't wait, and will videotape the reunion and post shortly thereafter. ha ha!
It has been quite emotional to have them sit at our dining room french doors, be able to see one another through the glass, but not play. Probably harder on us then them! My heart breaks every day when they sit and cry to one another--pure torture!
Thankfully, Freyja never showed any symptoms of Parvo Virus. Probably got awesome immunity from mom _________________ __________________

I so glad they will be able to play together again, it must have been so hard for them and you.
When I said 'short' list it probably had about 80 names on it!! Luna was up the top for a while too!! _________________ You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'Wow, you're right! I never would've thought of that!' |

Congradtulations to Freyja winning best minor puppy for the month of May. What a great way to start with your first time entry into the on-line Dog Showing Club. I was hoping to have Kana'Ti up there with you but I think my entry got lost in cyberspace. Hopefully next month we will have more Tarheel entries there. _________________ John

Wow! Thanks! I can't believe it!
We had a blast photographing her in the woods. We have a huge dog park not far from here, and can't wait to take her there when she's of age (4 months). The park is 80-acres...with an agility course. There are so many parks around here--the possibilities are endless. Now that Fenris is better we'll probably be posting photos all the time. (walking dogs seperately is no picnic--I'm beat!)
BUT--thank you again for such a lovely pup. She is such a joy. I'm anxious to see what she looks like all grown up--but am in no rush to hurry the puppy years. What can I say, we're in love _________________ __________________

Thanks My husband and I were married at that tree--hence 'the wedding tree' . We made our guests hike 15 minutes into the woods to our ceremony site he he. My father--being Catholic--swore he would not come to our wedding because it was outside...he was apparently joking because he came and walked me down the wooded isle _________________ __________________
