I am absolutely positvely thrilled that "Taste of the Wild" dog food has cured Wave of his bowel problems. He absolutely LOVES this food & eats every lil' morsel in minutes.
NOW my problem is that he acts like he is starving & wants more. He pushes his bowl, cries at his bowl, digs at his bowl, howls at his bowl........
I am measuring his food exactly according to the package. He is not fat & very leggy. How do I know if I need to increase the amount? I am reluctant because he appears to be sooo much bigger than his littermates. Wave weighs 66lbs now and he is 24wks old today.
I am including a few pic's of him & his beloved "empty" food bowl! He never ever reacted to his other food like he does to TOTW. We are in the process of converting our 2 other dogs to this food also.
My precious Wave just keeps getting bigger & bigger

I am curious as to what formula of Taste of the Wild you are feeding Wave. We have made contact with one of Waves male littermates in Mass. He is very big as well weighing in at 60 pounds. Now remember Wave was 3 pounds heavier (correct me if I am wrong) than the next biggest pup. And with another male right behind him at 60 pounds, Wave is fine.
As for increasing his food, you might need to experiment a bit. This may taste much better than the other food and if he is food drivin like Tundra he may just eat because its so yummy. I would slowly increase to see if he stops eating before the bowl is empty. I don't think you are going to overfeed him, just watch his actions and you should be able to tell in time _________________ John

From Wave's photographs he looks a normal weight. He is leggy and still has a long way to grow. I would watch that he keeps gaining well, not getting fatter but keeping this look as he grows. He is a lovely looking boy. What is his actual height. Measure from floor to withers (shoulders) making sure he is standing straight. |

I never look at how much my dog weighs and decide what amount of food they need, simply because they all have a different metabolism.
Just look at your dog... If you feel his ribs see his backbone and hips sticking out, give a bit more! Of he gains more weight than you ant him too... took some of it. Very easy
Kal-le, my oldest Tamaskan weights 71lbs at the moment and is in perfect condition! He measures 67cm to the shoulder and you can gently see al his ribs, without his backbone sticking out. He gets 600gr of meat per day.
Magu is younger, weighs 62lbs, measures 62cm to the shoulder but get a kilo of meat per day!
I check them every week to decide if they need a bit more, a bit less or just stay the way they are. Same thing goes for all the dogs here.
Don't compare kibble to meat don't ever give your dog 600gr or a kilo kibble! _________________

That's funny...
I'm trying to slowly switch Wyatt back to TotW, because the Evo Food is really too high and protein and calcium for him, but he won't eat it. He eats every piece of food he can find (even pieces on the floor in the pet store), but he won't eat the bits of ToTW in his bowl, however, I was trying a different formula.
Maybe I'll try this one... |

All 3 of my dogs could not be happier about the change to TOTW. Wave has always been food motivated but watching him got nuts over this food is something else! |
