Hi everyone,
I'm looking to get a Tamaskan in a year or so, if all goes well. Anyway, I want to make sure I've done everything I can to be sure it'll be a good match. So...are there any breed shows in North America? If so, when are they?
I'd really like to meet a Tamaskan first though, preferably without shelling out obscene amounts in airfare. Reading about a breed on paper can be quite different than actually meeting one.
Failing that, however, is there anything anyone has to say about their own dogs? The good? The bad? Any stories? _________________ hoping for a Tamaskan someday... |

Also from Canada here! As far as I have heard, there are no Tamaskans in Canada, unfortunately! I would really love to meet one (or two, or three) as well. If I ever take a road trip through the states, there might be some within somewhat reasonable distance...I'm not sure where the closest is. I live in BC. Any Tamaskans in Washington? |

The nearest to Washington would be the breeder in New Jersey. The next would be North Carolina. |

haha, yeah I'm thinking I might take a road trip through the states. I live not even two hours from the border and I've never been. It's a bit ridiculous, actually.
I think I saw there were breeders in New York. I could probably make that in a day trip, depending on if they're in the north or the south. In a weekend, for sure.
I think if I saw two or three Tamaskans at a time I might be compelled to...borrow...yes, borrow...one. =P They're just too beautiful to be true. If their temperaments are half as wonderful as people say...well, I think I might have found my calling in life.
Hey Blustag, in a couple years how'd you like a breeder in Canada? =)
I don't know anything about breeding dogs now, but I'm more than willing to learn!!! Maybe I could find a kennel to volunteer at, or a vets, and learn a little about it.
It'd be a while though. I have to finish school and all (two years for that). But then I'm free, and the job field I'm moving into is massage, so it has a lot of free time and flexible hours. Anyway, here's hoping. =) _________________ hoping for a Tamaskan someday... |

Yes would love to see our breed in Canada and I for sure would personally deliver as any excuse to go visit family. There is no breeder in New York only in New Jersey. |

All right then, I might have to head over there to visit then. Road trip!!! The current dog will love that. =P
Well it takes what, two years for a female to mature and a little over one for a male. So, since I can't even look into getting a Tamaskan until next spring (due to parental restrictions =P) then that'd be three years at least and maybe more if I couldn't find the perfect dog or the wait list was long, etc.
I'd be out of school by then, so sounds good. I'll be back with this topic then. =) _________________ hoping for a Tamaskan someday... |

To the people interested in Tamaksans from Canada;
I have sent puppies to people in the nothern states of the USA. These pups are now 9 months old and would be an option to check out a pet owner as there are so few breeders. I sent a pup to Salem Mass, and another to Eire Penn. If these are close to you I can contact the owners and see if they may entertain a visit from you. _________________ John

Ooooh, I'd be interested. Not right at the moment, due to personal matters, but in the near future??? It'd be absolutely amazing to meet a) some beautiful dogs and b) some people who agree they're beautiful and understand that though they might look like wolves, they're nothing like. (I had a friend tell me today that she thought a dog that looks so much like a wolf must be mean, etc.) *eye roll*
Anyway, as stated, now isn't an option for me, but would you mind if I PM'd you in a bit to see if the offer's still open. I understand completely if it's not. As my mother would say, the world isn't run to suit me. (unfortunately...think of all the tamaskans). _________________ hoping for a Tamaskan someday... |

That's Sookie, right? The one with the beautiful, wolfy howl (caught on video). _________________ ~Arie

Yes, I was talking about Sookie. I must check out the howl. That reminds me that Jaeger is now begining to howl and it is just too funny coming from a puppy. I must try and get that on video. _________________ John
