We just had Jaeger into the vet yestersay 03 OCT 09 for a routine check up and shots. Jaeger is doing extremely well and puting on good weight. He checkin at 25 pounds or 11.35 Kgs. He still can't handle a car ride very well and the minute he get in the car the droul starts hanging from his mouth like shoe laces.
Today he is coing on a trip to a dog event in which he will have to endure an hour car ride each way. I will let everyone know how the event and Jaeger do.

Congratulations! It is exciting to hear there is new blood in the USA and that there is a breeder here dedictated to continuing what was prevously started. Will be waiting for pics and to see what the future holds for Tarheel.

Sookie seems to get car sick only if the vehicle gets hot/stuffy. If we leave windows down or have the A/C directly on her, she can handle 6+ hour drives without drool or vomit.

For the longest time Tundra would get car sick, She can now tolerate a car ride of an hour or so. I have not had to drive her anywhere further than that. Kana will get sick and so does Jaeger. Blaze is the only one who actually likes to get in the car and go places. So that proves to me that it is not my driving that makes them sick.

OH! Loo had a horrible time with car rides early on! She would have to curl up in the passeger seat (we have a buckle harness for her, so she was safly buckled in) and lay her head on my lap! She'd drool like there was no tomorrow for the shortest rides...poor thing!

I ended up buying a hybrid SUV and she is totally content to hop in and ride. Not sure if its because she can see over all of the traffic or that there's more room....I have to be careful about what I say. Even when I say the word "go" makes her excited!

Don't fret! They'll all get used to it!

Tala was always OK in the car and then she went through a phase of getting car sick or drooling!

When I take the dogs for a walk it takes me about 15 mins to walk to one of the fields that we go to, but it is about a 2 min drive. I spent 2 weeks putting Tala in the car boot with some little bits of kibble and drove to the field, she would be distracted finding the kibble during the short drive then we would arrive at the field and have a lovely walk and do the same on the way back.

After this she was fine and we now have no problem taking her anywhere.

However, I do know that her brother Onai has serious drool issues!!! Annette and Gary should consider getting a hovercraft to transport him in!

Freyja also drools in the car--and it's much worse if we have her by herself. If Fenris is with us she now only drools on very long car rides (60 min. + )
She gets better as time goes on, though--because a car ride always means something exciting: like going to the woods for a hike, or going to the pet store for new toys. (yes, spoiled doggies here...)
